Dear Reader, I am glad you are reading this book. There is probably no better
way to get to know your own or a lover's sexual personality than with astrology.
Many people say they don't believe in astrology. That's okay with me. I say don't
believe in it, just watch the way it works and see if the descriptions in this book
don't ring true for your boy-friend or girlfriend, lover, partner, or mate. After all,
the mechanics of sex are pretty simple, but the possibilities for sexy
communication, preferences, likes, and dislikes are infinitely varied. Unlike
most other astrology books, I have divided this book into parts according to the
astrological elements: fire, earth, air, and water. Once you understand the basic
way each element responds to or pursues life and sex, you will have learned a
valuable shortcut to maximize sexual chemistry between you and the person you desire.
Who knows — with this astrology sex manual, you may never again spend an
evening wishing for the phone to ring or cursing your last date because you
didn't read the signals right. And if your life between the sheets leads you to a

Introduction
Sexual chemistry is mysterious. We can't always explain why we desire someone
or feel a ping of attraction. This feeling bypasses our brains, makes us feel alive,
and enhances all human communication. Sex can mark the beginning of a
romance, a marriage, or an outrageous fling. There is just some special tingle
between you and that person that only one thing, sex, will satisfy. Sometimes
one person has the feeling and the other doesn't. Not to worry — with a little
effort and this handy book, you will be prepared to do everything possible to
encourage a sexy relationship and get to know your own sexual personality.
There is a lot of sexual posturing in the media today, and a great deal of talk
about who is sexy and who is not. Sex sells cars and clothing, and in the movies
we are titillated by passion. The media give us lots of images and sexy ideas, but
these images may not reflect our own sexual personalities, which are as
individual and varied as other parts of our personalities. Astrology is one of the
finest ways of investigating the unique currents of energy and desire that
influence a person's sexuality. Understanding your lover's Sun sign gives you a
personal sex manual to guide you toward what you will both enjoy.
As you read this book, you will begin to appreciate the myriad ways people
express themselves. The “Hot and Not-So-Hot Combinations” sections deal with
the archetypes of astrology. Many “not-so-hot” matches, or traditionally
challenging combinations, have enjoyed great flings or long relationships. If you
find that you are attracted to someone who doesn't rate according to the good
matches, follow your own instincts, heart, and libido. The description of these
matches is intended to give you a guideline, not permission or denial. Sexual
chemistry is, after all, somewhat unfathomable.
As you read this book, you will notice that each sign has several aspects. A sign
has a gender (male or female) and an element (water, fire, air, or earth). All the
water and earth signs are considered female, and all the air and fire signs are
considered male. In addition to its element, each sign is categorized as one of
three qualities: cardinal, fixed, or mutable. The cardinal signs initiate and lead
each season; the fixed signs reign when the season is well established; and the
mutable signs are changeable, partaking of one season and moving into the next
one. Finally, each sign has a ruling planet that exemplifies the characteristics of
the sign. Check Appendix A to find the gender, element, quality, and ruling
planet of your sign.
The two astrological planets that most concern sexual appetites, desires, and
styles are Venus and Mars. Venus, or Aphrodite in ancient Greek mythology,
was the goddess of beauty and erotic love. Mars, or Ares, was the god of war.
There you have the pleasure and battle between the sexes in a nutshell. All
people have Venus and Mars located in a sign in their charts, and the placement
of Mars and Venus will describe the yin and yang, or receptive and assertive,
dynamic in their lives. The placement of Venus and Mars has nothing to do with
sexual preference, as a man can be very yin and receptive, and a woman very
yang and assertive. In addition to reading the information included in the Sun
Sign Chart (Appendix A), consider the placement of Venus and Mars in your
and your lover's charts. You will find the astrological placements according to
birth year in Appendix B.
